Food Insecurity

Westborough Food Pantry

Thank you for your interest in the Westborough Food Pantry. In 1986 a dedicated group of town residents created the Food Pantry so that families in
our town would have a good array of nutritious
food to supplement their pantries.
Since its beginning, it has been the goal of the Pantry to treat our clients with dignity and respect, while fulfilling the requirements of our partner agencies. We try to offer a well-rounded array of foods for their weekly selection and offer, as well, some basic non-food items such as paper products and personal care products on a rotation basis.

Breaktime

Co-founded by WHS grad and current Harvard student, Connor Schoen, Breaktime is a social enterprise that launches the careers of young adults experiencing homelessness through employment and empowerment. They are opening up the "Breaktime Cafe" to provide these young adults with one year of direct employment and meaningful hands-on experience as well as vocational training and one-on-one career mentorship. They also currently operate Breaktime Staffing to create work opportunities for young adults experiencing homelessness by partnering with local businesses to see what additional needs they have that we could help with

Fresh Truck

We love Boston and we’ve been committed to making it a healthier city since 2O13. It all started while Josh was working as a health educator at the MGH Charlestown Healthcare Center. He kept hearing from his families that it was difficult to shop for healthy food — at that time, the only grocery store in the neighborhood was set to be shut down for a year-long renovation. It was this experience and some in-depth research that inspired Fresh truck to rethink the traditional grocery store model, make it mobile and bring it to the people that need it the most. Now with two mobile markets on the road every day we are hearing stories of kids trying their first sweet potato and families preparing meals together. We have a big vision for the future of food and healthcare, and we are only just getting started.

The Greater Boston Food Bank

GBFB is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the country. Last year, we distributed nearly 62 million pounds of nutritious food to people who struggle to have enough to eat. We are committed to increasing our food distribution to provide three meals a day to every person in need in Eastern Massachusetts while supporting healthy lives and healthy communities. Our progress toward this goal is documented by town on our interactive map.

Founded on the belief that young people can change the world through meaningful service to others.
