In any style of a service project, it is important to engage multiple people. Whether you’ll need people to help design the project or to help carry out the project, it is important to invite others to get involved early on. In this step, it is valuable to consider your own strengths and weaknesses and to consider what type of help you may need from others. Leadership is largely about becoming more self-aware and learning things about how you like to communicate, conduct a project and lead in general. Here are some guiding questions for self-assessment:
Now that you’ve had some time to consider what role you play on a team, think about who you might want to partner with for your project. Some things to consider:
- Are you generally one of the first people to talk when in a large group of people?
- Do you consider yourself a good listener?
- How do you approach a problem? Face it head on? Ask for help?
- What three leadership skills do you see as personal strengths?
- What three leadership skills do you think you need to work on?
- Consider what role you play as a teammate, and what support you need from other members of your team?

- What other skills do you need to conduct this project? Do you need people who are creative? Organized?
- Should you have team members from other clubs? School groups?
- Do you need a teacher to advise your group or help run the project?
